PROJECT YEAR: 2023 | LOCATION: Accra, Tema Port Harbor
Project Overview
Coastal Stabilization & Resilient Infrastructure
In response to the challenges of coastal erosion and rising sea levels, EYE-CON LTD successfully delivered this comprehensive sea defense project. Designed to protect Tema Harbour from surge events and long-term tidal degradation, this project combines heavy civil engineering with environmental sensitivity to safeguard the local community and critical infrastructure.
Core Project Scope.
Shoreline Stabilization: Strategic placement of concrete tetrapods and revetment walls to dissipate wave energy and prevent soil loss.
Geotechnical Foundation: Advanced soil stabilization techniques designed to withstand saturated environments and high-velocity currents.
Environmental Integration: Carefully engineered beach nourishment and dune restoration to mimic natural coastal defense systems while maintaining local ecosystem integrity.
Infrastructure Protection: Creation of a robust barrier system designed to shield vital coastal roads, residential zones, and industrial facilities from storm surges.
The Engineering Approach
Protecting a coastline requires more than just construction; it requires a partnership with nature. Our methodology for this defense project focused on three pillars:
Survey & Analysis: Deep-water bathymetric surveying and current monitoring to understand local water behavior before construction began.
Adaptive Materiality: Selection of specialized, high-density materials capable of resisting salt-water corrosion and continuous tidal impact.
Community & Stakeholder Liaison: Close collaboration with local authorities and coastal stakeholders to ensure the solution preserves public access and visual harmony with the landscape.
